Built from local field stone in 1867, the hotel originally provided an overnight stop on the Royal Mail’s mail run. The original stables are now used for storage for the hotel.

Sometime in the 1930’s, the original façade was rendered and altered to feature the large windows that now look out to the Lions Park and council-owned RV park.
